Utah Researcher Jim Ehleringer proves CO2 emissions can be measured
University of Utah biologist Jim Ehleringer and colleagues at Harvard developed a method to estimate carbon dioxide emissions, which could help verify compliance with a climate change treaty if the nations of the world ever agree to limit greenhouse gas emissions.

The Lake Bonneville Satellite Reef
May 1 - 31, 2012 Brolly Arts and The City Library present an installation of the Lake Bonneville Reef, a satellite of the Institute for Figuring’s hands-on art and science project that has engaged over 5,000 participants worldwide. The installation uses the techniques of hyperbolic crochet to create a coral reef as it may have existed in ancient Lake Bonneville.

Member of CI-WATER Education Team Wins National Science Award
Louisa A. Stark, Ph.D., a STEM education collaborator on CI-WATER, and Director of The University of Utah Genetic Science Learning Center and her team have been honored by the journal Science with the first Science Prize for Online Resources in Education (SPORE) Award. Their award-winning curriculum development and web model will be an important part of the CI-WATER project, including summer workshops with teachers in Utah and Wyoming.
