Utah State Extension and the Utah Division of Water Quality are teaming up to monitor the waterways of Utah for pathogens. This research program has trained volunteers wading in streams taking samples as a part of a new program: Utah Water Watch. 

Fred Ogden, the Cline Distinguished Chair in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Haub School of Environment and Natural Resources at the University of Wyoming, is working to create a computational model of the hydrology of the upper Colorado River Basin.

University of Wyoming professor Craig Douglas hopes to play a part in helping communities located in the basin carefully plan their water use now and decades into the future while continuing to generate hydroelectric power, a green form of energy production. 

A new report on Utah's climate shows how desperately dry the state is with reservoir storage in rapid decline, many streams and rivers reduced to a trickle and forage production in all areas rated as extremely poor.
