JSU Field Course

CI-WATER partner Wyoming EPSCoR is holding a summer field course in Ecohydrology and Hydrogeophysics May 11-24. Participants will spend two weeks in and around Jackson, Mississippi, studying ecology, surface hydrology and near-surface geophysics. The course will consist of field work and lectures and is available to graduate and undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Wyoming or Jackson State University.

Bear River Watershed Council Sponsors Upcoming Film

The Bear River Forum will feature the film Damnation on Thursday, April 17th at Herm’s Inn. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner and the movie at 6 p.m. Guest speaker Nich Schou, Water Outreach Manage for the Utah Rivers Council, will speak at 8:30. The cost of attendance is $20 for dinner and the movie. The guest speaker portion of the night is free to the public.

She-Tech Explorer Day for teens to be at UVU April 28

Calling all high school girls! On April 28, Utah Valley University (UVU) will hold a day-long conference for girls grade 10–12 to engage in hands-on science and technology activities, meet role models, learn about STEM careers and explore the amazing possibilities of technology in a fun atmosphere.

In support of this event, Alpine, Provo, Nebo and Wasatch school districts have approved school release for students to attend She-Tech Explorer Day.

Summer opportunity for undergrads: watershed modeling

This summer, CI-WATER and the University of Wyoming is inviting students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities to participate in an undergraduate course in the basics of hydrological modeling. Beginning June 15, participants will spend a week learning the basics of creating computer simulations for watershed analysis based on data they collect in the field.

Participants need not have prior experience with hydrologic modeling and numerical methods; $250 stipends, travel reimbursement, and room and board may be available. To register, contact Beth Cable by May 2.
