Water Music concert Saturday, May 17

Murray Symphony will present “Water Music” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 17 in Murray, Utah. The family-friendly concert features water-themed compositions in a range of musical styles, from Handel and Mendelssohn, to Strauss, Disney and more. CI-WATER will be on hand to share information about water resources and conservation.  

Tickets may be purchased at the door of the Murray High School Auditorium, 5440 South State Street, Murray. $6 general admission, children under 10 free.

Webinar on water science resources for teachers

Teachers will have the opportunity to learn about CI-WATER resources for education on Thursday, May 8 with a free webinar from project partner Utah Education Network (UEN). The webinar is part of UEN’s weekly Faculty Lounge web series, which lets teachers learn about the latest in education technology from their own computers. Delivered via Adobe Connect, the webinars are archived, so teachers who can’t participate in the live event can view the content on their own schedules.

Eurosicence Offering Travel Grants to American PhD Candidates

Euroscience, Europe’s top interdisciplinary science association, will be holding its biennial meeting in Copenhagen, Denmark, June 21 to June 26. Euroscience is offering travel grants to American PhD candidates, of up to $1,800. The application deadline is May 5.

The meeting is a great opportunity to network with scientists and science policymakers from around the world. Participants have the opportunity to listen to talks and participate in discussions on varying topics, including Global Research Management, Learning in the 21st Century and more.

Coding Challenge for high school students

High school students have until April 30 to create and exhibit their apps for mobile devices, tablets or computers as part of the U.S. Congressional STEM competition, “House App Challenge.” Don’t have time to perfect that app by the end of this month? Keep working—the competition is billed as the First Annual, meaning there will be another opportunity to enter next year.
